Green Mud Update #1 - AWP 2012 Conference

Hey lovelies!

It’s been a great first week of the project. Thank you so much for your generous contributions. We’re already over 1/3 of the way! It’s been humbling and exciting to hear all your responses. I have every confidence that we’ll make our goal, but we need your help to keep spreading the word!

Good News:

  1. Some of my poetry will be published in a Trans and Genderqueer Poetry online feature for EOAGH: A Journal of the Arts, as part of this Trans Anthology project.
  2. Several small, independent, and experimental presses are taking interest in the novel.

Great Art:

Check out these people I’m meeting and talking with at the conference:

  1. Erin Costello, and her SpringGun Press (Denver)
  2. Amaranth Borsuk & Brad Bouse, and their interactive poem: Between Page and Screen.

More on both to come…

Into the Green Green Mud: A Novel (with pictures).
I’m excited to announce that Teacup Gorilla and OddBird have teamed up to publish my novel, Into the Green Green Mud, as an online multimedia experience complete with original images, fonts, animation, and music.
We expect to release the completed novel and accompanying album in early 2013, a year from now, free for everyone to read, enjoy, download, share, and remix as you like.
Today we are launching a sample first three chapters along with a RocketHub campaign. We need your help getting started, and we’re offering various gifts, experiences, and opportunities—including the chance to collaborate on one of the pages—in return for your contributions. Help us get this massive project off the ground, and score some sweet rewards while you’re at it!
Enjoy!

    used?

I discovered this today in Found Poems by Bern Porter, which I bought on the recommendation of Brandi Homan. It reminded me of Susy’s poetry - some of which is also found:

WHAT A TREMENDOUS TIME WE’RE HAVING!

(by Nick Sturm @ Jellyfish, via Brandi Homan)

In many ways I am not a rabbit
or a spool of ribbon and that is important
because it is amazing How wrong
it would be to say I am going skiing
or Do you want to share this cantaloupe
when you mean Let’s do something
    incredible
It is not about being specific
It is about opening up your genius mouth
and decorating what comes out in all
sorts of felt and vapor and astonishment
My friends know this and are always unlocking
the garden where I sit in my naked wreckage
I have hidden an amp in the hawthorn
There is a jackhammer in the begonias
You can use it anytime you like
